How to make a peanut butter and jam sandwich

 In writing we learned about how to instruct.We had to instruct a peanut butter and jam sandwich.It was hard.On the last day of doing our instruction the teacher had to make some of us to tell our instructions.She picked one more and then the teacher picked me.I went to go tell my instructions and everything was wrong.I ate my sandwich i had and i could only taste the bread.It was disgusting but i was grateful.I had to make heaps of changes and then i got it right.

Waste sortnig

 In inquiry we learnt about the recycle things and the numbers on the recycle things and plastic things.The recycle numbers are 1 and 2 and the plastic numbers are 3,4,5,6,7.In September 93% of recycle was recycled and 7% of the recycle went to land fill.So 7 trucks with rubbish in there went in the ocean.The reason why 7 trucks with rubbish went to the bin is because you have to clean up your cans, milk bottles, yogurts etc.

Friendship

 In health we learnt about friendship.Friendship is important because you might not have a friend.If someone is alone you should tell them to hang out with you.We had to make a DLO (digital learning object) about tips to be a good friend.We had to put in 5 tips.I did the pictures with my best friends and something that was challenging was to get them to be in my photo. 

Don't use plastic

 In inquiry we learnt about not using plastic and plastic is killing our animals.We also learnt about the 4 R's.The R's are refuse, reuse, reduce and recycle.Plastic is polluting our our ocean, rivers and lakes.In India they have heaps of rubbish in there ocean, lakes and rivers.

X-ray vision is better than super sonic hearing

 In writing we did persuading about x-ray vision is better than super sonic hearing.Something that was challenging it we had to research a little bit of more ideas to write.Something i enjoyed was when i said in my writing you can help the hospital and make sure germs don't get you.

Graffiti art

 Hi my name is Eligh from South Hornby School and in art we learned about graffiti. Graffiti is a kind of art and it's basically like street art. We had to draw our own graffiti art and write our name.Then line it with vivid, then colored it in, then cut it out and then put it on a paper brick wall. It was hard and challenging but I drew my name good and i think you would like it. If you look at it and don't know what it says it says "ELIGH".

Te reo maori speaking

 In te reo maori we had to speak in maori.We had to say 'Homai te pukapuka whero, that means 'pass me the red book.I made a different blog like this with my friend Toi remember him.It was hard but i got help from my friend Toi.

Types of dances

 In reading we watched heaps of kinds of dances and write facts about it.Like ballet, street dance, south Asian dance and other dances.It was fun and the dances we watched were cool and funny.My favourite dance was street dance because they did flips and cart wheels and stuff.The challenging part was when we didn't know what kind of dances i knew.

Speaking in maori

 In te reo Maori we had to be in buddys and ask questons in Maori like 'he aha tenei' that means what is this.We had to ask the questions with school objects like scissors, pencil and pen but in Maori. We had to get in buddy's and ask each other he aha tenei and the other buddy responds he pene tenei (pene is pen). It was hard for me and my buddy because we didn't know how to speak Maori but we did so many try's we got it right.

Algebra

 In home school maths we learned about algebra.I like algebra because iv'e never knew what it was and i learned heaps from it.It was hard but i still finished it.

Maori classroom activity

 In Te Reo Maori we had a picture in front of us and had to name the object and colour in the picture.It was fun and pretty hard.Have you ever done this in you classroom.

Science alive

 In Inquiry a astronaut came to our school and taught us about space.I learned heaps of stuff about space like they pee inside the hole and it produces into water so they can drink in space, and also about sleeping inside small spaces but you don't lie down.Something else I learned about space is that they eat spinach, peanut butter and other food and they put it in plastic bags and soak the food up.

 In writing we learned about Diamante poem and wrote about Matariki on Diamante poem.It was really fun and really easy.Diamante poems are a poem that are an seven line unrhymed poem.Someone called Iris Tiedt and made Diamante poem, she made it in 1969 and she was from England.

Dear Sherin

Hi guys, In week 4 on Wednesday we went to camp.We went to Woodend Christian Camp it was very fun.There was heaps of parents who came with us to camp.My parent and teacher was Miss McLeod and Sherin.Today we had to write a letter to the parent who was with my group.

 In maths our teacher gave us a problem solving question.The question was, how many counters do you think can fit in your maths book and we had to count every counter and see how many counters there was on my book.For my difficulty it was pretty easy.

The sun-Facts

 In Inquiry we learned about the sun.The sun is very hot and if you look directly at it it will hurt your eyes.If your guessing how old the sun is it is 4.5 billion years old.When you look at the sun from here is looks small but when you go really close to it is REALLY HUGE.The sun is 75% hydrogen and 25% helium.

Phases of the moon

 In Inqury we learned about the Earth and the Moon.We learned about waxing and waning, crescent and gibbous, the far side of the moon and the close side of the moon.

WWI Anzac Day

 April 25th 1915,

Dear diary,

It was 6 am and we landed at gallipoli.I was getting changed for the army, I thought it was going to be cool but it was a nightmare.I prayed before i went and kissed my mum and my brothers and my dad.We dug to make the trenches.The turkey army came we held up our guns ready to fight.I had a sniper and a rifle.We saw the turkeys coming up so the commander said FIRE!Our whole team was shooting at them and we killed heaps.They found there spots to protect them.I got my rifle and shot at so many turkeys.I was so scared i thought i was going to die straight away.So many lives were killed i was freaking out.I saw my teammate and he got sniped in the head and his head came out.His body landed on me and i was shocked.We were killing them and most of them were dead.I pulled out my sniper and tried to snipe some people there was a guy aiming at me and he shot me i got hurt, i screamed.He shot me in the arm but my whole arm didn’t come off.I told my teammate to give me a bandage because i was hurt.As soon as he gave it to me he got shot in the face.I felt like i was having a heart attack.5 people in there team had a machine gun and they were shooting at us just holding the trigger without letting go.I sniped 2 of the people who had the machine gun.I had to reload but i dropped my bullets because my hands were sweating hard out.I killed 2 more who had the machine gun and there was 1 more left.I had no more bullets so i got my rifle and it had a sharp knife on it and ran straight at him and killed him with the knife there was blood all over me.They all surrendered and ran away.   

 26th 1915

Dear diary,

It was the next day and we won against the turkeys yesterday.It was 8:00 in the morning and we were hungry.We had bean soup and bread.Then after we ate someone chucked a bomb at us then i screamed BOMB IN THE HOUSE GET COVER!Then the bomb exploded and 5 people from our team got exploded.The turkeys were firing us we all went in the trenches to get cover.They had more people from yesterday and the commander said CHUCK ALL YOUR BOMBS TO THEM.They were stronger than yesterday as well.Everyone got there rifles and sprayed at them.I saw my teammates and they were all dying i was scared so i got my sniper and sniped the machine gun guy.Most of our team died so i picked up the mine that was next to me and set a 10 second timer on it.I chucked it to them in the middle then the time and it was 10, 9, 8, 7, 6 ,5 ,4, 3 ,2 ,1 then it exploded BOOM!Most of their team died then they thought they were going to win but they surrendered again.They ran away and went to their army.They all went back and we won again.The commander said well done we beat them again then we celebrated.The commander said to us good job.

December 1918

Dear Diary,

It was the end of the war and we finally finished.We all celebrated, we all cheered and I yelled we WON!We had to leave Gallipoli on our boats.I prayed to God and I said thank you God for helping all of us win the war.I hope my Parents and brothers are all right in New Zealand.I was sitting with my friends in the boat and we were saying jokes and laughing heaps.We all had broken arms, bandages everywhere on our bodys, broken teeth and other broken stuff but we are still alright.We finally arrived in New Zealand.The commander said to everyone gather up i need to talk to all of yous.We all came in and the commander said well done and other words.He told us to go home and everyone said bye to each other.I said bye to my friends and the commander.I saw my car and went to it i looked in my mirror and said i’m back.I drove to my house it was a 15 minute drive.I was here and i said this house doesn’t look different at all.I knocked on the door and hid behind the wall.My brother opened it and i surprised him.He was in a shock and surprised at the same time.My brother said YOUR BACK!He yelled at his family and said to everyone and said he’s back.They came and they saw him and everyone was surprised.The mum said welcome back.The dad said hello son back home.Everyone hugged him and his mum kissed him on the cheeks.His mum told him to come inside and tell him all about the war.

 In reading we learned about Hornby Primary's war memorial (i don't go to Hornby Primary school).This war memorial was made in 1921.If you want to see it it is in Hornby Christchurch.There is 90 names on Hornby primarys war memorial.

 In reading the teacher gave us Anzac questions.It was kind of easy and it was fun.Anzac day is an important day because they helped us and protected our country.Anzac day stands for Australia New Zealand Army Corps.

Planet earth and beyond

 In inquiry we learned about the planet earth.There are four layers but we only learned about 4 of them.They are called the Crust, the Mantle, the outer core and the inner core.The Crust is the top layer and we are standing on it today.The mantle is what makes the sun hot.It has lava and it is 500 degrees Celsius (500c).There is something called a outer core, it is hotter then the sun.Without the outer core the earth will be very different.There is something else called a the inner core and it is made up of the same metals as the outer core.

 Hi it is Eligh here.In writing we learned about similes.A simile is when you used like or as in your sentence.In our writing we had to write a simile about the picture we have.

 In writing we were learning about Easter eggs about the taste, the feel and the look.It tasted creamy and felt rich ans it looked smooth.

 In maths we had a problem solving.It was about a card problem.I had to solve the problem 2 ways.It was a interesting problem.

Rugby league

 In reading we learned about rugby league.Rugby league is a famous sport.Rugby union and rugby league is different to each other.Rugby union you can tackle and have unlimited runs.In rugby league you have to hold them for 3 seconds and roll the ball under your legs and someone else will get the ball and pass it to the other player.

 In writing we did an information report.We wrote about our class room called Punui-o-toka.Our class is in front of the school.We are the oldest and the strongest and we help the other people.Our plant in our classroom is called Raupo and you can find them near swamps, there scientific name is Typha Orientails and the english name is Burlish.

 In reading we learned about the wizard of oz.Our teacher wanted us to pick a character and write facts about them i picked the Tin man.Our reading teacher reads us The wizard of oz when we are eating our morning tea.The tin man is my favourite character because he holds an axe and is funny.

 In maths we did statistics.Statistics is when you vote for what you want to vote, for example you can vote what is your favourite ice cream flavour.You have to do a tally chart and tell some people to vote what flavour they pick.After that you make a pie chart or a bar graph.

Facts about sharks

 In reading we were learning about sharks.Sharks were born before dinosaurs even came.A shark can be more than 12 meters that is long as.There is 400 different animals in the ocean.Every year 100 million sharks get caught by people and that is very sad.

Winds of SHS

 In inquiry we learned about the four different winds.There is Te ope ruaraki and that is spring and the nor eastly. There is Te Mauru-e-taki-nei and they are summer and are the nor west.Whakarua is the autumn and it is the prolonged sunshine.The last one is Punui-o-toka and that is winter and it the southerly wind.
